DE targets further growth with Inverness acquisition

DE has acquired Inverness-based Alchemy Plus Business Solutions.

Alchemy delivers IT services to companies across a range of sectors including oil and gas, construction, leisure and hospitality, retail and professional services, such as accountancy practices and legal firms.

DE managing director Stuart Winterburn, who will be based in Inverness over the coming months, said: “The purchase of Alchemy is an ideal fit for us as we look to broaden our reach across the north.

“This is an exciting time for both companies. The respective teams are looking forward to working together and the combined level of knowledge puts us in a strong position to grow the business.”

DE chief executive Rob Hamilton said: “We’re delighted with the deal. There are a burgeoning number of technologies out there that can help businesses and we see huge potential in Inverness and the surrounding area.”

Alchemy Plus Business Solutions executive chairman Peter Swanson said: “The deal was completed relatively quickly and is great news for both businesses. DE is a strong, innovative business that wants to build on our success locally.

“It has the same focus upon quality customer service and front-line expertise and is perfectly equipped to take the company to the next level. I wish DE all the best in developing a very successful business across the north of Scotland.”

Mr Swanson plans to concentrate on his other business interests. Alchemy will continue to operate under its own name from its offices on Seafield Road. Combined, the companies have a staff of 26. An additional two people are being sought to bring the Inverness team up to 10 people.
