As of today, Dynamic Edge is 10 years old, and what a journey it’s been! Since forming on the 6th January 2009, Dynamic Edge has been providing expert IT support to clients and leading positive change in technology and efficiency solutions for businesses of all sizes. In this time, we’ve expanded into four cities, a variety of different technology service offerings and house an expert workforce of 38 people.
As we reminisce about the exciting journey over the last decade, here are ten milestones that have taken us to where we are today…
1. Dynamic Edge founded by CEO Rob Hamilton
On the 6th January 2009, Dynamic Edge founder and CEO decided to take the plunge and create something new; dedicated to serving clients as their trusted IT partner, opening the company’s first office in Aberdeen. Rob commented: “Starting a new business is a daunting prospect, but I knew with Dynamic Edge there was a fantastic opportunity there and a market to serve. We take pride in our ever-growing client base and ensuring that we continue to meet the technology needs of each and every one of them, here’s to the next ten years!”
2. Microsoft names Dynamic Edge as its first partner to strategically lead with cloud
In 2010 came Dynamic Edge’s first ringing endorsement, and by none other than technology giant, Microsoft. Due to Dynamic Edge’s early adoption (Office 365 predecessor, BPOS, launched in May 2009 in the UK) of Microsoft’s cloud solutions they were recognised as the first partner in the UK to strategically lead with this technology.
3. Growth acceleration made possible through crowd funding
In 2014, following a series of successful years of double digit turnover increases, Dynamic Edge applied to raise capital investment and accelerate growth through peer-to-peer lending platform Funding Circle. It took only three weeks from the initial application to the securing of £100,000 from an impressive 350 private investors – this cash injection provided Dynamic Edge with the capital it needed to speed up the company’s growth, expand into new markets and increase its workforce.
4. Inverness – The first acquisition
2015 presented an acquisition opportunity in the Highlands of Scotland. After acquiring Inverness-based technology provider Alchemy Plus in April that year, Dynamic Edge increased their workforce by 8 and added another 70 clients. Integration with the Aberdeen team soon followed and a new office in Inverness in 2017 which now has 15 staff.
5. Dynamic Edge provides high speed fibre internet to Inverness
Dynamic Edge is proud to have lead the way with the roll-out of high speed, business grade fibre internet to companies in the Inverness area (now across the UK). Championing the fibre2business scheme in 2017 before it finally came to fruition. Making the BBC and STV news on launch it was hailed as “ground-breaking”, the technology was widely welcomed by the city and the Inverness Chamber of Commerce described the development as “a milestone for Inverness”.
6. Dundee office opened
Within months of the Inverness office opening, came Dynamic Edge Dundee located in City Quay. To support the operation, key staff were appointed to lead the growth of the business in the Tayside area and provide new and existing clients with the tailored high service standards that were quickly becoming synonymous with the Dynamic Edge brand.
7. A team to drive the company forward
As the offices opened and the client list grew, the team of dedicated IT experts at Dynamic Edge needed to follow suit… 14 staff soon became 20, and the number continued to grow until today where we employ 38 loyal and knowledgeable staff that are committed to serving client needs every day.
At Dynamic Edge, our staff are the backbone of our company and we recognise that growth and client satisfaction can only be made possible with a talented and dedicated workforce.
8. Giving something back…
An ever-growing list of clients and investment is great, but apart from fantastic customer service what could Dynamic Edge give back to the wider community? One value that has always been weaved into the fabric of our company is that we should always try to give something back.
In our ten years we have taken part in countless charitable and community initiatives, including some highlights such as support for Inspire PTL, Befriend a Child, Sistema Scotland, Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust, Highland Hospice, and the Archie Foundation.
9. Acquisition of Waytime Technologies
In 2017, Dynamic Edge was ready to expand its operations south of the border by acquired Surrey-based IT company Waytime Technologies. Waytime had built up a loyal customer base in the South East of England over the last 14 years. It’s 8 staff and 70 clients were integrated into Dynamic Edge which now had a UK wide offering.
10. Continued growth …
2018 was another record year for Dynamic Edge seeing growth across all geographies. 2019 already looks positive after securing new contracts with clients in Aberdeen, Banchory, Peterhead and Guildford.
Growth in the south has resulted in a required office move from Leatherhead to Guildford which will take place early this year.
