Office 365 is a cloud-based suite of well-known workplace applications that seamlessly synch in real-time across different devices and operating systems. Use Word, write together…
The experience of writing together in Office 365’s version of Word is both refreshing and exciting. Users will see the initials of other collaborators appear in real time in the position of their cursor, and watching other people contributing to a shared business proposal or board report feels oddly satisfying – you’ll wonder why you ever saved multiple versions and worked so inefficiently in the past, and you’ll never look back once you’ve tried it!
Power through your presentations with PowerPoint
With the Office 365 version of PowerPoint, when you log into a shared document with multiple collaborators you will easily be able to see the changes that have been made. Slides with changes will be highlighted in turquoise, and when opening the specific slide the edits will be clearly shown.
Due to the clever technology, it is impossible for two collaborators to edit the same part of the presentation at the same time with brightly coloured boxes indicating areas that are already being edited and are therefore locked. Microsoft have also safeguarded against accidentally saving over changes of other users by highlighting any conflicting changes. Made a mistake? No worries – you can access multiple earlier versions of your slideshow by clicking on the activity button and restore from a back-up.
Excel at spreadsheets!
Empower your accounting A-team by letting them collectively pull together your annual budget with Excel in Office 365. As with PowerPoint and Word, multiple collaborators can edit using Excel in real-time. Users are highlighted via their cursors but with Excel there’s a nice feature that allows you to click the image of each user to jump into the cell they’re editing at any one time. If all users have autosave enabled, the document is updated within seconds and all changes are highlighted. As with the other apps, if you make a mistake, don’t worry as you can restore to an earlier version using the browse version history feature.
