Company history

Since forming on the 6th January 2009, Dynamic Edge has been providing expert IT support services to clients and leading positive change in technology and efficiency solutions for businesses of all sizes. In this time, we’ve expanded into four cities, a variety of different technology service offerings and house an expert workforce of 55 people.

1. Dynamic Edge founded by CEO Rob Hamilton

On the 6th January 2009, Dynamic Edge founder and CEO, decided to take the plunge and create something new; dedicated to serving clients as their trusted IT partner, opening the company’s first office in Aberdeen.  Rob knew with Dynamic Edge there was a fantastic opportunity there and a market to serve.

2. Microsoft names Dynamic Edge as its first partner to strategically lead with cloud

In 2010 came Dynamic Edge’s first ringing endorsement, and by none other than technology giant, Microsoft. Due to Dynamic Edge’s early adoption (Office 365 predecessor, BPOS, launched in May 2009 in the UK) of Microsoft’s cloud solutions they were recognised as the first partner in the UK to strategically lead with this technology.

3. Inverness – The first acquisition

2015 presented an acquisition opportunity in the Highlands of Scotland. After acquiring Inverness-based technology provider Alchemy Plus in April that year, Dynamic Edge increased their workforce by 8 and added another 70 clients. Integration with the Aberdeen team soon followed and a new office in Inverness in 2017 which now has 15 staff.

4. Dynamic Edge provides high speed fibre internet to Inverness

Dynamic Edge is proud to have lead the way with the roll-out of high speed, business grade fibre internet to companies in the Inverness area (now across the UK). Championing the fibre2business scheme in 2017 before it finally came to fruition. Making the BBC and STV news on launch it was hailed as “ground-breaking”, the technology was widely welcomed by the city and the Inverness Chamber of Commerce described the development as “a milestone for Inverness”.

5. Dundee office opened

Within months of the Inverness office opening, came Dynamic Edge Dundee located in City Quay. To support the operation, key staff were appointed to lead the growth of the business in the Tayside area and provide new and existing clients with the tailored high service standards that were quickly becoming synonymous with the Dynamic Edge brand.

6. A team to drive the company forward

As the offices opened and the client list grew, the team of dedicated IT experts at Dynamic Edge needed to follow suit… 14 staff soon became 20, and the number continued to grow until today where we employ 55 loyal and knowledgeable staff that are committed to serving client needs every day.

At Dynamic Edge, our staff are the backbone of our company and we recognise that growth and client satisfaction can only be made possible with a talented and dedicated workforce.

7. Giving something back…

An ever-growing list of clients and investment is great, but apart from fantastic customer service what could Dynamic Edge give back to the wider community?  One value that has always been weaved into the fabric of our company is that we should always try to give something back.

In our ten years we have taken part in countless charitable and community initiatives, including some highlights such as support for Inspire PTL, Befriend a Child, Sistema Scotland, Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust, Highland Hospice, and the Archie Foundation.

8. Acquisition of Waytime Technologies

In 2017, Dynamic Edge was ready to expand its operations south of the border by acquired Surrey-based IT company Waytime Technologies. Waytime had built up a loyal customer base in the South East of England over the last 14 years.  It’s 8 staff and 70 clients were integrated into Dynamic Edge which now had a UK wide offering.

9. Moving south

2018 was another record year for Dynamic Edge seeing growth across all geographies. 2019 was a positive year all round with securing new contracts with clients in Aberdeen, Banchory, Peterhead and Guildford.

Growth in the south has resulted in a required office move from Leatherhead to Guildford. At the beginning of 2020 we also had another opportunity to expand our business down south and acquired Tekkers IT Solutions based in Fareham.

In light of our significant growth, Stephen was promoted to Regional Manager with responsibility for the north of Scotland. In July 2019, Stephen assumed the position of Business Development Director, assisting CEO Rob Hamilton in implementing Dynamic Edge’s growth plan.

Stephen was born and raised in Bathgate, West Lothian. On leaving school, he secured a very lucrative Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering with Sun Microsystems, Linlithgow. After 3 very enjoyable years with Sun, Stephen embarked on a round the world trip visiting countries in 3 continents. On return to the UK, he held various roles in technology companies including BT, O2 and a managed IT provider with responsibility for national government contracts.

Stephen married Claire in 2006 and they decided to setup home in the Highlands. They moved to Nairn in 2007 where they are now accompanied by their 3 wonderful children. Stephen believes the Highlands of Scotland is a unique and special place and provides his family with the very best work/life balance.

Alongside his love for everything technology, Stephen is a keen sailor. He sails boats of all sizes and regularly competes at national events. He has also been seen on a golf course from time to time and doesn’t mind turning his hand to endurance events, as long as they are raising vital funds for charities.

Paul Adam

Technical Director

Paul is the Technical Director at Dynamic Edge, joining the business in January 2020. Paul has worked in the IT sector for over 23 years and he joined the organisation to help shape all aspects of our technical function from strategy and direction through to solutions evaluation and to ensure we are always at the top of our game!

Paul came to Dynamic Edge through having worked with Rob Hamilton many years ago, Rob had always kept an eye on Paul as a key person to get onboard at Dynamic Edge.

Paul hails from Aberdeen where he was born and raised and has always had a keen interest in technology, developing a childhood hobby of dismantling electronic things to see how they work (he did once, as a child, take apart the family TV, much to his parent’s dismay!) into a career working with technology was a natural progression for him.

Paul currently lives in Balmedie, a small village just up the coast from Aberdeen with his partner Mandy and their dog ‘Star’. His interests are (as per his social media profiles) “IT geek (it’s what I do), guitar nut and long-term music gig/festival attendee! Also…. beer is good!” – He prides himself on his record collection and his collection of guitars. When not at work he is most likely to be found at some obscure band’s gig or enjoying a (summer!) weekend in a field at a music festival with Mandy and friends.

Nikki Scott

Help Desk Manager

Nikki has been working for Dynamic Edge since June 2019 when she joined Tekkers to work as a dispatcher. Nikki currently manages the Fareham office Help Desk Team, this involves ensuring the smooth running of the team, scheduling site visits and is often called the ‘Mum’ of the office.

Nikki has worked in various roles over her career, including Patisserie Chef, PA, Telecoms Change Manager, a 192 operator and (her favourite ever job) serving ice creams on the sea front at Ryde in the Isle of Wight!

Nikki loves to travel and she nearly always has a holiday booked for somewhere in the world or is in the stages of planning, this year has caused some problems in that area. Nikki is never happier then when she is sat by a pool/beach with a Pina Colada in one hand and a book in the other, especially if with her family, her husband Adrian and son, George.

Chris Mayo

IT Project Manager

Chris is responsible for controlling the overall delivery of every project Dynamic Edge is contracted to provide. This ranges from the simplest PC configuration and deployment right through to major infrastructural change.

Chris has worked across a variety of fields within the world of IT. He taught ICT and programming at Secondary level and out in the field has served at multiple levels in the corporate and charitable sectors, ranging from First Line Engineering support, through to leading IT Operations for a Hotel chain. Before joining Dynamic Edge, Chris was the Executive Head of Information and Communications for a national charitable organisation until choosing to return to the realm of client delivery.

Out of the office, Chris is also a Trustee for a charity operating across the north of Scotland. He is a certified teacher of mindfulness and meditation and has led many local groups or assisting in providing support those suffering from anxiety and PTSD.

Over the years you would have found Chris traversing the hills and mountains of Scotland, England and Wales, if not taking in the latest cricket or rugby match. Originally from Essex, he has fond memories of the County Cricket ground and supporting Saracens rugby team. Having worked his way north from London, through Birmingham and Wolverhampton, he now lives in a quiet coastal village in the Northern Highlands and maintains that’s about as far north as he intends to go.

As Helpdesk Manager of the North region, he is responsible for the frontline and makes sure the level of support delivered and customer experience is second to none.
After graduating from RGU with an LL.B Hons. degree, Matt decided that a life of technology would be more suited to his interests and passions. He built his first PC when he was still in primary school, and remained captivated by all things electronic.

He resides in Balmedie, with his partner Claire and their pug Pixie. Outside of work, Matt has a keen interest in music, and is able to describe most of his friends as ‘someone I was in a band with’!
